As this issue of the Journal reaches your hands we will be in the final stages of preparation for the biennial session of our Supreme Council in Washington, D.C., celebrating 210 years of Scottish Rite Freemasonry. I realize that many readers of the Journal have attended previous meetings of the Supreme Council but, equally so, many have not. Permit me, therefore, just a brief overview of what is about to happen.
To really understand the culture of Masonry, to have a “feeling” for it, it’s very helpful to know something of the culture and history of the times from which it came. It greatly enriches the experience when we can relate the ceremonies of Masonry to our other knowledge and information.
The 2009 Session of the Supreme Council, 33°, S.J., was held October 5–6, at the Capital Hilton in Washington, D.C. Making history, the Grand Commanders of the four US Supreme Councils were present.
