Real Estate & Stock Donations
Many brethren and their families may have a property that is not being utilized or stocks that have accumulated much in value. Instead of paying capital gains, property taxes, and maintenance fees, you may want to consider making a gift of real estate or stocks to either the House of the Temple Historic Preservation Foundation, Inc., or the Scottish Rite Foundation, Southern Jurisdiction, U.S.A., Inc.
By making a gift of either you can usually:
- For real estate, have the full appraisal value deducted from your taxes, and it can be carried backwards or forwards for other tax years in many cases. In the case of stocks, receive a deduction for the full current value.
- 100% of the donation goes to a 501(c)(3) approved charity for your maximum deduction.
- For property valued under $5,000, an appraisal is not necessary.
If you have appreciated stock and are interested in supporting the Scottish Rite Foundation, Southern Jurisdiction, U.S.A., Inc., today, you can donate it directly to the Foundation in minutes using this secure stock donation service . If you prefer to make the transfer through your own broker, you can also access our transfer information here .
In either case, consider whether your donation can be converted in to Charitable Gift Annuity or Trust as well generating both income and tax deductibility. For more information on Charitable Gift Annuities and Trusts, please visit our Planned Gifts page.
