Featured Artifact: Masonic Lantern

Masonic Lantern from House of the Temple's collection “Masonic lanterns were hung outside of taverns and other meeting sites in the 18th and 19th centuries, usually as a signal of a lodge meeting or that lodge meetings are held in that establishment. This lantern was used by a Union Army lodge during the American Civil War. Note the Masonic symbol “G” in the door of the lantern.”
