These conferences are designed for our newer members who are active and engaged in support of the Valley and committed to sustaining their Valley leadership in moving forward. This is part of developing future leadership by having them engaged and learning. Our newer members are expected to contribute to the discussion and network to learn more about the Scottish Rite and hear success stories from their peers.

1:15–2:00 pm Keynote Address: “Not Everyone Can Be a Leader, but Everyone Can Lead” – MW and Ill. Sir Knight Jeff Bolstad, 33°
2:00–2:15 pm Break
2:15–2:30 pm Do You Want a FREE Will? - The Orient Development Officer will discuss the FreeWill program and how it can benefit your family AND the fraternity for FREE.
2:30–3:45 pm Membership Matters - Ill. Bill Sloan, 33°, SGIG in Mississippi and Membership Services Committee Chairman, will offer comments on the state of Membership along with real-life membership examples of how easy it is to both lose and/or keep a member in the Rite. Ill. Bob Weatherford, 33°, will speak on reinstatements.
3:45–4:00 pm Break
4:00–4:45 pm Web Site, Social Media, and More - Web Detailer Rita Daniels will discuss web site and social media site best practices.
5:00–7:00 pm Dinner (on your own)
7:00–9:00 pm Open Q & A with Chris Ruli, 32°, KCCH, author and Valley of Washington Archivist & Historian

Saturday

8:30–9:15 am Successful Valley/Orient Leadership and Development - Illustrious Past Grand Masters Gene Cobb, 33°, SGIG in North Carolina, and Shaun Bradshaw, 33°, will discuss leadership at the Lodge, Valley, and Orient levels, and how to develop effective strategies to grow and strengthen the fraternity.
9:15–10:00 am Masonic Education with Master Craftsman Online College & More - Ill. Daniel Robinson, 33°, will discuss the Master Craftsman Online College and its uses in the Valley and Blue Lodge for educational purposes. He also will cover the benefits of the Scottish Rite Research Society.
10:00–10:20 am Development Discussion

10:30–11:45 am Town Hall Discussion with Sovereign Grand Commander James D. Cole, 33°
11:45 am–1:00 pm Provided Lunch (included with registration)
1:00–2:00 pm Ambassador/Diplomat Training and Discussion - Ill. Terry Wester, 33°, Deputy in Alabama, talks about our most important membership tool—our existing members! 
2:00–3:00 pm Membership Engagement – Ill. Maynard Edwards, 33°,discusses five easy ways to gather content, develop an effective engagement plan, and how to measure results.
3:00–3:30 pm Wrap-up Discussion

 

FAQs

  • I am not a Valley officer, secretary, or personal representative. May I attend?  YES! To attend the conferences, you need only be a member in good standing of the Scottish Rite, Southern Jurisdiction, U.S.A., and complete the conference registration process
  • What does my attendee fee cover? Your fee covers all the sessions, conference materials, Saturday’s lunch, and any catered breaks or receptions. YOUR HOTEL RESERVATION MUST ME BOOKED SEPARATELY!
  • Is there a special room rate? Each of our host hotels has set aside a limited number of rooms at a special conference rate. Links for booking will be provided after you register. YOUR HOTEL RESERVATION MUST ME BOOKED SEPARATELY!
  • Will the conferences be live-streamed or recorded? We currently do not plan to live-stream or record the conferences
  • Will slides and handouts be available after the conferences?  Any slides or handouts will be made available to everyone after the last conference.
  • What's the dress code for the conferences? Business Casual. No caps or regalia, and by order of the Grand Commander, NO NECK TIES!
