Members of the Valley of Tampa, their families, and friends wave flags at cars passing outside of the Tampa Scottish Rite Masonic Center as part of their 2010 Flag Day celebration.
The Valley of Tampa, Florida, held their annual Flag Day celebration on June 14, 2010. It was a fine day of fellowship, celebration, and patriotic enthusiasm. Members, family, and friends lined the street outside the Tampa Scottish Rite Masonic Center and waved flags at passing cars. Presiding over the patriotic gala was Ill. Tom Vann, 33°, Chairman of the Tampa Education and Americanism Committee. In addition to the exhilaration of flag waving, all enjoyed a barbecue lunch and assembled in the auditorium for a program celebrating Old Glory—the Stars and Stripes—the Star Spangled Banner—the emblem of our nation. Our flag is more than a mere piece of fabric, is the representation of our nation and reminds us of the sacrifices made by members of the armed services to protect our freedoms. There were speeches, honor guards, recitations, recognitions, and a musical program presented by the Tampa Bay Heralds of Harmony, a men’s a cappella chorus. It was a grand old day honoring a grand old flag.
